I had an opportunity to cover the show last year and had an amazing time. Food, shopping, wine, live entertainment, and thousands of fabulous women – Yes! we will take it.
The Southern Women’s Show in Charlotte, produced by Southern Shows, was the nation’s first consumer show to focus on women. It is now one of 19 shows presented by Southern Shows throughout the Southeast region.
With over 350 vendors and 20,000+ show attendees, the Southern Women’s Show in Charlotte has grown to become one of the largest expo events for women in the state, and one of Charlotte’s premiere signature events.
We got to sit down with the Charlotte’s Executive Show Manager, Tish Atkins, to get the scoop for this year’s show and what you can do to better prepare.
RI: What are some of the highlights for this year’s show?
Tish: We have so much planned for the event this year!
We have an incredible lineup of vendors and a long list of features, including a Girls’ Night Out on Friday, a Mother-Daughter Look-a-like Contest, Teacher Appreciation Day, culinary demonstrations, food samplings, and special guest appearances by Melinda Bates, Jessa Duggar Seewald, Britt Nilsson, and the Ice Sisters.
In addition, we will have our annual Food Lion Chef Challenge, hourly fashion shows, and daily wardrobe and make-up workshops.
What advice would you give to anyone attending the Southern Women’s Show for the first time?
This is a HUGE event. I would recommend visiting the website ahead of time so that you can get a sense of the presentations, fashion shows, and other show highlights you would like to see.
We also encourage you to take advantage of the online coupons on our site that have been offered by our participating vendors.
There are multiple paid parking lots around the Convention Center. However, the light rail will also bring you right to the front door. We have also teamed up with Uber where you can get $20 off your first ride with the promo code SWS2015.
And, most importantly, wear comfortable shoes!
What do you love most about the Southern Women’s Show?
I always look forward to meeting our exhibitors and seeing the excitement on the faces of all of the show’s guests. Our number of attendees continues to grow each year, and they come ready to shop!
Tell us about the partnership you have with Classroom Central this year?
Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention that. We are VERY excited to partner with Classroom Central this year for Teacher Appreciation Day by helping to collect school supplies for local students living in poverty.
Where can individuals drop off their donations?
Donation barrels will be located at the main show entrance. Each person who donates will also have an opportunity to register for free tickets to the Southern Christmas Show.
Where can people learn more about the Southern Women’s Show in Charlotte and purchase tickets?
They can purchase tickets on our website, as well as, at Walgreens locations.
We also share photos from our shows on our Instagram page. Attendees and Exhibitors are encouraged to share their experiences on social media with the hashtag. #SWSCharlotte
Many thanks to Tish and the Southern Women’s Show for having me back this year as the official photographer. Again, the show is this week-end, August 28-30 at the Charlotte Convention Center. Rae Images will also be offering a couple of Complimentary Headshot Sessions with the show’s daily prize drawings.
Hope to see you there!
